Julie S. (Taylor) Oliver, 65
Julie S. (Taylor) Oliver, 65, passed away May 7, 2023, in Athol, Idaho. Julie was born in Wallace, Idaho, to John and Anita Taylor. She grew up in the Coeur d’Alene area and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1976. She married Randy Oliver in 1978 and they had their daughter, Melanie, in 1979. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Arizona. Later, Julie settled in Las Vegas, Nev., where she lived out her life.
In Las Vegas, she met Joe Staylon and together they started JCS Technologies Inc. out of their home. With her experience in circuit boards and his in building wire harnesses, they created a successful manufacturing business working with the Las Vegas gaming industry.
For her, Idaho was always home. She loved to come up as often as she could to spend time with family. Julie was always fond of boating on the local lakes, family picnics, hiking Tubbs Hill, late-night talks on the porch, attending local cultural events, annual fall wood cutting for her mom, and funny enough, gambling at local North Idaho casinos. Julie is remembered by her family for her love of The Walking Dead, drinking Michelob Ultra’s, listening to podcasts, wearing her boots and skinny jeans, and eating at Café Rio in Las Vegas or Zip's in Idaho. She loved spending time with her two grandchildren. Julie always had a great sense of humor, even in her last days. She was feisty, spunky, strong and brave.
Julie is survived by her daughter, Melanie (Rodney) Hammond of Las Vegas, Nev.; her grandchildren, Chasie and Brendan Hammond of Las Vegas; mother Anita Taylor of Athol, Idaho; siblings Russ Taylor, Lynn (Karl) Ploetzner, Gail (Tim) Randall and Mitch (Desi) Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and her comfort dog, Ella. She was preceded in death by her life partner, Joe, and her father, John Taylor.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Hospice of North Idaho for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of North Idaho (www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org)
