CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes; it’s not perpetual

| May 10, 2023 1:00 AM

I support the updated request by the Coeur d’Alene School District. I had concerns over the “perpetual” aspect of the previous levy request. These concerns were heard and addressed. The district is “listening” and is addressing community concerns.

As the previous leader for balanced economic growth for Kootenai County, I can assure you that an educational focus for our community is vital for our economic future. Many of those who have moved into our area over the past few years have little to no idea as to the sacrifices and efforts that were made to overcome so many economic difficulties over the past 30 years. As a resident of such a beautiful and prosperous community, it is important that each generation support and contribute to the future of our community.

Despite what you might see on signs and in literature, in my opinion, the district is addressing community needs with this request. In my opinion, the district is definitely listening to the community’s feedback and is active in meeting those needs.

I am a graduate of the Coeur d’Alene School District. The foundation that was established for me allowed me to attend a strong university which allowed me to work throughout the U.S. and Europe. Please don’t deprive our students of these opportunities.

I support the upcoming levy and its importance for the future of our children, our grandchildren and generations to come.
