CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes

| May 10, 2023 1:00 AM

A number of years ago, our community members chose to elect me four times to represent them in the Idaho Legislature. My margin of victory rose with each election, and I viewed that as a sign that I had earned their trust and they were happy with the way I was representing them. To the many thousands who voted for me, I remain humbled and grateful for your support. In office I tried to be reasonable, open-minded and fair. In doing so, I was able to earn the respect of members of both parties. So, once again, if you would still trust and support me, I am asking for your vote, this time for a yes vote for the Coeur d’Alene School District levy.

Ignore the scare tactics and negativism for what it is: an agenda of the Idaho Freedom Foundation and their local voice, Brent Reagan, to weaken our public schools. They are pushing their radical ideology in an effort to solidify their political control so they can enforce their right-wing extremist agenda. Weakening any public institution that helps educate thoughtful and critical thinking people is a target in that mission.

We are at a crucial turning point in our community, and your yes vote will help our schools continue to provide a quality education for our children. State support is not adequate, even with the recent increase in school funding. We must rely on the property tax to help fund our schools. We are in a very competitive world, and weakening our schools would be a form of educational child abuse because it will diminish the ability of our children to successfully compete in today’s world.

Please vote, and vote yes, in support of the levy.

GEORGE SAYLER

State Representative, 2003-2011
