Hazel Reed, 96

Hazel Juanita (Mooney) Reed, 96, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away April 30, 2023, at her home. Hazel was born May 22, 1926, and grew up on a farm a few miles south of Coeur d’Alene in Cougar Gulch. She was the second child of six born to Florence and Ned Mooney. Hazel graduated from Cd’A High School in 1944 and attended the University of Idaho. On Sept. 17, 1950, she married Judd “Doug” Reed.

Hazel worked at Lone Pine grocery, General Instruments and Cd’A School District. She was a past member of the Mica Flats Grange and Cd’A Rambling Rovers.

Hazel is survived by sisters Louise Feely and Edna Lorenzen, her daughters, Juanita Baltazor of Boise, and Muriel Judge of Pingree; sons Judd (Rebecca) and Steve, both of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hazel was proceeded in death by her husband, Doug, both parents, sister Virginia “Ginger,” brothers Jim and Don, and sons-in-law Jerry Baltazor and Gary Judge.

At Hazel’s request, there will be no services and in lieu of flowers you may donate to your favorite charity of choice. Coeur d’Alene Crematory & Funeral will be in charge of cremation.
