SOFTBALL

5A REGION 1 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Field locations have been determined for next Tuesday’s games.

As No. 1 seed, Coeur d’Alene will play all its games at home throughout the tournament, and the other games Tuesday will be played at neutral sites.

On Tuesday at 2 p.m., it’s No. 4 seed Post Falls at No. 1 Coeur d’Alene, and No. 3 Lewiston vs. No. 2 Lake City at Post Falls High.

On Tuesday at 4 p.m. (or as soon as the 2 p.m. games are completed), Coeur d’Alene will play at home vs. either Lewiston or Lake City. If Coeur d’Alene beats Post Falls, it will face the Lewiston-Lake City winner in the championship game. If Coeur d’Alene loses to Post Falls, Cd’A will play the Lewiston-Lake City loser in a loser-out game.

If the other 4 p.m. game is Post Falls vs. Lewiston, it would be played at Lake City High.

If the other 4 p.m. game is Post Falls vs. Lake City, it would be played at Lakeland High.

The winner of the championship game advances to state, and the two remaining teams play Thursday at 4 p.m. at the home of the higher seed for second place and a spot in a Saturday state play-in game at Prairie.

Got it? There will be a test later.

4A REGION 1 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Moscow is the No. 1 seed, and because the Bears swept Sandpoint and Lakeland during IEL play, Moscow will host the entirety of the tournament.

On Tuesday, No. 3 seed Sandpoint will face No. 2 Lakeland at 3 p.m. in a loser-out game. The winner will play No. 1 Moscow at 5 p.m. in Game 1 of a best-of-3 series for the regional title, and the region’s lone berth to state.

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday at Moscow; Game 3, if necessary, would be Saturday in Moscow.

• BASEBALL

4A REGION 1 BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

Sandpoint is the No. 1 seed, and will host the first day of play Monday at War Memorial Field.

Lakeland will face Moscow at 3 p.m., with the winner playing Sandpoint at 5 in Game 1 of a best-of-3 series for the regional title, and the region’s lone berth to state.

The winner of Game 1 will host Game 2 on Wednesday, and if necessary, the winner of Game 2 would host Game 3 on Friday.

Since Sandpoint did not sweep Lakeland and Moscow in Inland Empire League play, those teams could “steal” home field advantage by beating the Bulldogs at regionals.

• POSTPONEMENT

St. Maries at Genesee baseball today was canceled due to rain. St. Maries begins play Tuesday at the 2A District 1-2 tournament at Orofino.
