Amy Maxine Lynch, 84
Maxine was born Jan. 21, 1939, in El Monte, Calif., to Mack and Amy Shoemate. She grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Polytechnic High School where she met the love of her life, Dan Lynch. They married on April 20, 1957, and lived in Bremerton, Wash. She loved being a Navy wife. They returned home to San Francisco and were blessed with two daughters. In 1967 they moved to Mill Valley, Calif., and in 1978 they settled in Post Falls, Idaho.
She was a strong Christian woman and attended the Inland Empire School of the Bible with Dan. Teaching Bible studies and ministering to women was a continual joy as she served Jesus, her Savior. She was a gifted hostess who loved to celebrate and frequently invited others to live with them when they needed a new start or a hand-up in difficult times.
Mom had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, especially with her family. She enjoyed many trips to Israel with Dan leading tours for family and friends. Some of her latest trips were to Switzerland, Ireland, Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise. She participated fully in life by doing whatever anyone in the family did: camping, canoeing, ziplining, kayaking, riding a camel and boating. She liked to walk every day with her daughters and the family dogs. In her 70s, she could still swim a mile in the Spokane River and challenged herself by learning to snowshoe and play basketball, both at 75. She loved the pink basketball dad gave her for that birthday.
On April 18, 2023, she was gathered to her people by the Lord, Jesus Christ. She led many others to the Lord, with whom she was reunited. Maxine leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Dan, and her two daughters, Dannell (Bob) Rasmussen and Colleen (Bob) Knauber, and two grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Rasmussen and Amy (Tom) Keys. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and grandson.
Services will be at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, in Building 2. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, hospice house, to whom we are very grateful.
