POST FALLS — Remodel work at Post Falls City Hall is expected to take place this summer and fall.

Post Falls City Council members at their March 21 meeting unanimously approved a $70,270 professional services agreement with Spokane-based Bernardo Wills Architects.

The project will include adding administrative and legal workspaces, completing security-related modifications such as doors and access control, minor modifications to City Council chambers, future plans for expansion in community development and options to improve acoustics in the rotunda.

Post Falls City Hall is about 15 years old. The rotunda was constructed in 2009 and has not been remodeled.

Public Works Director John Beacham said most visitors will not notice major changes to City Hall.

"The modifications to the council chamber will allow speakers to present to the City Council more easily, so that may feel different to presenters but will not be a major change to the chamber itself," he said.

In 2021, city staff completed a facilities needs assessment, which identified projects to accommodate staffing in the future.

"With this project, we’re taking a small step in implementing the recommendations of that planning effort," Beacham said.

Funding for the project will come from the city's facilities account.
