Boise State coach Rice rejoins USA Basketball as U19 assistant coach for 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Boise State men’s basketball coach Leon Rice will again serve as an assistant coach for USA Basketball, this time working with the USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team, the organization announced Monday.

Rice will rejoin Colorado head coach Tad Boyle and Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton Jr. — with the former serving as the national team head coach this summer at the FIBA Men’s U19 World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, scheduled for June 24-July 2.

Coaching selections were made by the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee.

The trio previously coached the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U18 Junior National Team to a gold medal at the FIBA Men’s Americas U18 Championship in Tijuana, Mexico, last summer.

Rice is the winningest coach in Boise State men’s basketball history with a record of 268-155 in 13 years seasons. He’s led the Broncos to eight postseason appearances in his tenure, including four trips to the NCAA Tournament.
