Two arrested following traffic stops
ATHOL – Two women were arrested for reportedly having illegal drugs following separate traffic stops on Sunday.
Tanya P. Myers, 38, Spokane, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Kootenai County jail following a traffic stop near Highway 54 and Railroad Street in Athol.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Myers had drug paraphernalia in plain view during the stop. Two packages containing about 180 fentanyl pills were seized.
Also Sunday, a KCSO deputy saw a suspicious person in a vehicle near U.S. 95 and Appleway Avenue. While approaching the vehicle, a deputy observed methamphetamine in plain view, a press release said.
During the investigation, deputies seized a handgun, $5,000 in cash and 32 ounces of methamphetamine.
Shalada M. Bengtson, 37, Kalispell, Mont., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into jail.
