NIC: Ask why?

| March 8, 2023 1:00 AM

I love North Idaho. In my opinion, the magnificent scenery, endless outdoor activities and the vast majority of folks who reside here are second to none.

I’m also a Republican with moderately conservative values. But now-a-days it seems that’s a bad thing. I’m expected to accept American flag burning in the name of free speech, but labeled a racist if I disagree with allowing young children to determine their gender. I believe free speech means free speech. It should work both ways. Instead of trying to change the Constitution, perhaps more people should read it.

It seems you can’t open the Coeur d’Alene Press newspaper without seeing a one-sided view regarding the state of NIC. It’s sad to see how our once non-partisan local paper has drifted so far to the left. Whatever happened to reporting both sides of an issue with objective and honest journalism?

Does anyone actually believe Trustees Banducci, McKenzie and Waggoner are out to eliminate NIC for the sole reason of developing its real estate for personal gains? Really? Well that’s the message our local media continues to send. Maybe we should ask ourselves what’s the real reason these men have dug in their heels and refuse to fold under constant personal attacks and criticism? After all, they were placed in their Trustee positions by a majority of voters. Is it possible they simply had enough of allowing far-left liberal philosophies to further invade NIC’s curriculum? I don’t know the answer. But in my mind, the question is certainly worth asking.
