NIC trustees to meet Monday
COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho College trustees will convene Monday night for a special meeting, following a Friday night order from a Kootenai County judge to immediately reinstate Nick Swayne as the college’s acting president.
The meeting is scheduled for March 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Coeur d’Alene Room of the college’s Edminster Student Union Building.
The public can attend in person or watch remotely via Zoom. An agenda and Zoom link will be posted no later than 6:30 p.m. tonight at nic.edu/board.
This comes after the board canceled a special meeting that had been slated for Saturday. The college announced that meeting shortly after Judge Cynthia Meyer handed down the order to reinstate Swayne while Swayne’s lawsuit, which seeks his permanent reinstatement, is pending.
Swayne’s suit contends that trustees violated his employment agreement when they voted 3-1 last December to put him on indefinite administrative leave for no disciplinary reason.
Meyer agreed on Friday to grant a preliminary injunction in the case while it moves through the courts, declaring that trustees violated Swayne’s contractual rights and lacked the authority to place him on leave as they did.
