Zachariah 'Zach' Paul Doty, 33
Zachariah Paul Doty, 33, of Coeur d’Alene, suffered a fatal crash on Idaho Highway 97, Feb. 22, 2023. He was born in Seattle on April 9, 1989, to Jude and Angela Doty. The family lived in Ellensburg and Yakima before settling in North Idaho.
Zach, home educated, had an insatiable curiosity and loved books. He excelled at mathematics, collecting slide rules as a child. His early passion for Scripture sparked extensive memorization, supporting the Gideons and founding AudioBibles International. An advocate for liberty, he studied law, stood for 2nd amendment rights, and served the jural society as a teenager.
At 23, he married the love of his life, Katrina (Asbury) Doty, on Oct. 21, 2011. Their love produced three enthusiastic, energetic sons, affectionately called “Andy,” “Woody” and “Buzzy,” who swam, biked, fished and unicycled with their dad.
Inventive and entrepreneurial, Zach’s enterprises included computer technology, software development, drones, investments, cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. Articulate in speech and debate, he hosted podcasts, and penned numerous poems and songs. He was profoundly analytical, always questing for truth, attuned to cutting edge discoveries. His creativity compelled him to explore, experiment, excel, and exceed with exuberance. Zach was adventurous, loved piloting airplanes and exploring the world, visiting more than 20 countries. He dreamed of improving quality of life in the Philippines, Africa and India. Unencumbered by fear or shame, Zach lived with an incomparable intentionality, knowing that he was changing the universe.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina, and their sons: Andrew, 8, William, 7, and Paul, 5; parents, Jude and Angela Doty; brothers: Stephen, Benjamin and Timothy Doty; sisters: Grace, Faith and Charity Doty; parents-in-law, Ernest and Debra Asbury; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, best friend, Christian Wu, and many close friends.
