NIC: Attorney issue still stands

| June 28, 2023 1:00 AM

In the majority, North Idaho citizens are backing the survival and phoenix rising of North Idaho College with Dr. Swayne in charge of operations and academics. The next month will be a vigil for supporters, current and future students, faculty and employees. May our board do no harm in the interim?

One hanging chad still remains — the selection of a qualified college attorney. 20-year engaged local attorney Marc Lyons resigned amidst the chaos of the back room engagement and political payoffs from Art Macomber. Art Macomber threw in the towel after his financially golden gig of bumbling and political skullduggery proved inept. Dr. Swayne’s recommended firm Holland & Hart, Boise was in on April 26 and out a month later.

The Banducci Bandits have the audacity to promote Colton Boyles Law out of Sandpoint. Boyles’ own CV notes his practice has represented a broad range of clients — “governments, elected officials, active duty and retired military, law enforcement, investigative journalists, hospitals, medical clinics, doctors, nurses, whistleblowers, cybersecurity and cryptocurrency companies, insurance carriers, startups, and energy companies. A very specific list with no mention of education. This looks like another buddy hire by Banducci. A political “wanna be” as Idaho AG; a resume with no educational, academic or college law experience; hinted contributions to America First — a white Nationalist group, should all override his candidacy.

The alternative firm out of Spokane is the Stevens Clay Law with a focus on Educational Law with 100 schools and districts to their credit. Specialists in the field of education over a political candidate seems the better choice after all NIC has suffered over the past three years.
