LEGION BASEBALL: Lums win in seventh; Spokane/CdA wood bat tourney next

COEUR d’ALENE — Owen Benson led off the seventh inning with a double, and scored on a bunt single by Ty Shepard as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen class AA team beat the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak 4-3 on Tuesday at Thorco Field.

Yakima Valley had tied the game at 3 in the top of the seventh on a bases-loaded balk.

Bryce Hall’s RBI single in the third inning pulled Coeur d’Alene (12-8) within 2-1.

Benson doubled in the fifth, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Bridge to tie the game at 2.

Eric Bumbaugh led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run to put the Lums up 3-2.

Coeur d’Alene hosts a pod in the Senior Division of the upcoming Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Wood Bat Classic at Thorco Field, starting Friday vs. the Parkland Twins at 4:30 p.m. and the Lewis-Clark Twins at 7.

COEUR d’ALENE — Will Beckenhauer had a two-run single in the first inning for the Lumbermen ‘A’ in a North Idaho League win over the Mountaineers at Thorco Field.

Jack Pierce and Kolbe Coey had an RBI each for Coeur d’Alene (20-4, 7-1 NIL).

Kenny Wells had a two-run double in the seventh inning for Northern Lakes (10-6, 3-4), which returns to action today for a doubleheader at St. Maries at 3 p.m.

Coeur d’Alene will host a pod in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Junior Wood Bat Classic starting Friday at Lake City High. The Lums will face the Asotin County Blues at 3:30 p.m., then play Wenatchee Valley at 6.
