Former Coeur d'Alene High volleyball player named assistant coach at NIC
COEUR d'ALENE — Melissa Fleshman (previously Huddleston) has been named assistant volleyball coach at North Idaho College, working for head coach and former Lake City High and NIC player Brittany (Gay) Tilleman.
Fleshman was raised in Coeur d’Alene and attended Coeur d’Alene High School, and helped the Vikings finish second at state 5A volleyball tournament in 2015.
Fleshman continued her volleyball career at the University of Montana and played there from 2016 to 2019. She was a pin hitter for three seasons at Montana but transitioned to middle blocker her senior year. Her team competed in the NCAA Big Sky Championships her junior and senior years.
Fleshman was voted 2018 and 2019 Most Inspirational Player, received the Heart of the Grizzly Award, was All-Big Sky Conference second team and was back-to-back Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week. She graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's in exercise science.
Fleshman coached volleyball camps during her time at Montana and has coached club volleyball since moving back to Coeur d’Alene in 2020.
