UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX: U of I is taking a bum deal

When I read you editorial today supporting the purchase of the University of Phoenix, I nearly fell out of my chair.

What I say here is heavily based on information from a very close friend who has taught at the college level for 25 years and now teaches full time online for a reputable university. The University of Phoenix is a joke. That is literally how it is viewed in academia. It at one time was the leader in online education but after heavy government sanctions and loss of attendance it is now open enrollment and will accept any student and continue to pass them on as long as their check does not bounce. If UI paid them $10 much less the millions they are asking for they would be the laughing stock of higher education.

As you so elegantly explained when President Green introduced himself to the community, he drove his “beautiful gold and silver F-150.” He did not drive a 20-year-old rusted out Fiat which is what he is about to get with the University of Phoenix. Duane Hagadone is turning over in his grave as I write this.
