Meet Tyler Sager, a National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified trainer at Peak Health and Wellness in Hayden.
1) How long have you been a personal trainer, and what got you into the profession?
I’ve been a personal trainer for five years. My “why” in pursuing this profession has always been to transform like-minded strivers wishing to reinvent themselves. As a big believer in personal empowerment, I want to help others develop into their higher selves. Through fitness, it’s possible to unlock your true potential, changing from the outside in. And vice-versa.
2) What is one of your favorite success stories when you helped someone meet their weight loss or fitness goals?
Hands down, my journey with Dan Crawford is the most exceptional of all my client successes. It wasn’t just that we worked together for Dan to shave off 76 pounds while he struggled with high blood pressure and prediabetes. The real victory occurred afterward. Not only did he lose the weight — he kept it off. A full year later he continues to work out consistently, enjoying a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
3) How do you feel knowing your work and dedication is helping others live better, healthier lives?
Truly, nothing can compare to the satisfaction I receive watching transformations. Many of my clients come to me at their lowest points, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Yet day in, day out, as we do the hard work together, I benefit from seeing them evolve, seeing it occur in real time. To witness my clients blossom before my eyes is an unparalleled blessing.
4) What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I love art. In my spare time, I paint and enjoy being exposed to many different types of artists and their creativity. I’m also a chess lover.
5) As we get into swimsuit season, what are some tips for losing a few pounds and feeling our best this summer?
My No. 1 piece of advice is to be mindful of your decisions. Each one, no matter how seemingly trivial, will impact your health and your quality of life. If possible, secure the services of a personal trainer. Why? It’s really an investment in you. Also, attend a fitness class (or many), get a workout buddy and exercise regularly. Last, just because the seasons change doesn’t mean your goals have to. Make taking care of yourself a four-season activity. You won’t regret it. And your body will thank you for it.
