Symphony kids program Saturday at Cd'A library
The Coeur d'Alene Symphony is hosting an interactive, kid-friendly event starting at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
Members of the symphony will teach a class with drums from around the world.
“We’re just trying to give kids some experience with musical instruments, and expose kids to musical instruments that they wouldn’t otherwise see,” Cd’A Symphony marketing manager Shelley Hickox said.
The symphony hosts regular Saturday with the symphony events on the third Saturday of the month, but this show is different.
“It's exciting because kids will have a chance to interact and play on the drums,” Hickox said.
Afterward, a librarian will read them a music-themed book to calm some of the spirited energy.
The event is free for children 3 and older, and typically about 30 people attend. Attendees can RSVP or find information at cdalibrary.org.
Past musical performances have included traditional classical music, jazz, pop and world music.
