Marilyn Sue Rowe, 101

| June 15, 2023 1:00 AM

Marilyn Rowe passed joyfully and peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Feb. 23, 2023, at the age of one hundred and one (and a half!). Marilyn was born in a small cottage in Nampa, Idaho, the youngest of four children, but lived in Southern California for most of her growing-up years. Her beautiful voice was discovered by her high school music teacher, who helped train her. Her "claim to fame" in remembering her younger days was singing the lead part in her high school musical, "Smilin' Through." She was a singing waitress at Clifton's in Los Angeles and also sang with a full orchestra which was a particular thrill to her. She met Bert Bangle in high school and they were married in 1942. After their third child was born, they moved from Southern California to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and raised their family in Cougar Gulch.

Marilyn's life can be described as one who was dedicated to telling others about Christ, which she did everywhere she went and to almost everyone she met. She was deeply involved with her church, Bethel Baptist, and delighted everyone with her beautiful soprano voice. She loved to write and teach Bible studies. She was also an expert seamstress who did alterations for many individuals in Coeur d'Alene, as well as for Candy O'Brien's Boutique on Sherman Avenue. She also helped support many missionaries with her "sewing money." Although her marriage to Bert ended and times became very difficult for a while, her faith carried her through. She was asked to speak regularly on a Christian radio Broadcast in Spokane, which she did for five years, and also worked at The Bible Book Nook, where she met her second husband, Orville Rowe. After Orville's death, she eventually moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to be closer to her son. Life Care of Sandpoint became her "home" the past several years, when she passed away. Many thanks to them for all their loving care.

She is survived by her children, Donna Brewster, Tina Christie (Brian), David Bangle (Robin) and "adopted daughter" Donna Inglis; and half-sister, Linda Benedict; as well as her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at Yates Funeral Home-Hayden Chapel (373 E. Hayden Ave. Hayden, Idaho 83835) at 11 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023. There will be a private interment at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Please visit Marilyn’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
