School districts announce free summer food service programs

The Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland Joint school districts have announced times, dates and sites for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2023 Summer Food Service Program. Through this program, all children will have access to free, healthy meals and snacks this summer.

The Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland Joint school districts have announced times, dates and sites for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2023 Summer Food Service Program.
All children ages 1-18 will have access to free, healthy meals and snacks Monday through Friday during summer months when school meals are not available. Meals for adults will be available for purchase.
Meals during the school year are served through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, but these programs end the last day of the school year. The Summer Food Service Program helps fill the hunger gap.
The program is sponsored by school districts, local government agencies, camps and nonprofit organizations. Many meal sites offer activities to encourage kids to keep building healthy bodies and minds.
The Summer Food Service Program is federally funded, state-administered. Providers are reimbursed for serving free, healthy meals to children and teens in low-income areas during summer months.
COEUR d'ALENE

Breakfast: 8-9 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
