Paul Hunt, 81

Paul James Hunt of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was born Sept. 1, 1941, to Robert and Severna (Wasserman) Hunt in Fremont, Ohio. Paul died May 20, 2023, at Shoshone Mountain Retreat in Wallace, Idaho.

Paul was sixth in their family of nine children (three brothers and five sisters). He graduated in 1960 from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Fremont, Ohio, where he played football and was on the wrestling team.

Paul served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. He was united in marriage to Pamela (Stillmank) Hunt on Nov. 13, 1965. Paul was in the health care industry for 41 years as a registered respiratory therapist. He worked, directed and taught at four hospitals, mostly at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Pomona, Calif. He retired in 2006.

Paul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he served as an usher, ecumenical kitchen crew member, property and grounds worker, fixer and general “where needed” helper.

Paul enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, playing cards with friends, being involved with his son in karate, soccer and football, family times and just being with Pam.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; son Darren (and Lorri) Hunt; sisters Diane (and Rick) Upton, Sharon (and Jack) Skibo, Karen (and Stan) Wagner; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for Paul will be Saturday, June 3, at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home. www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
