GoFundMe account set up for

Coeur d'Alene U12 Little League

The Coeur d'Alene 12U Little League All-Stars have qualified for the Northwest Regional tournament starting next week in San Bernardino, Calif., and is looking for community help to make the trip.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the team cover travel and lodging expenses associated with getting to and staying in California.

Games will be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN+.

Gonzaga to face Purdue

in Maui invite opener

The Gonzaga men's basketball team will open the 2023 Maui Jim Maui Invitational against Purdue on Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. pacific on ESPN2.

Monday's quarterfinal matchups feature Tennessee taking on Syracuse and the Bulldogs squaring off against Purdue in the top half of the bracket, while the bottom half of the bracket will feature Kansas facing host Chaminade, followed by UCLA and Marquette going head-to-head in the nightcap. The 40th edition of the nation's premier early season Tournament will take place Nov. 20-22 at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui. All 12 Championship Round games of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Purdue has won all three meetings between the programs, including the latest matchup, 84-66, in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland last season. The Boilermakers were ranked 24th. Purdue won the first all-time meeting, 83-68, in West Lafayette on Nov. 18, 1998. The Boilermakers were ranked No. 15 at the time. In the second meeting, No. 25 Purdue held off Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament West Regional semifinal in Albuquerque, N.M., 75-66, March 23, 2000.
