Coeur d'Alene to face Area A rival Lewis-Clark in loser-out game today at 1 p.m.
COEUR d’ALENE — The third time was definitely the charm for the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen on Tuesday night.
Centerfielder Eric Bumbaugh had two hits and three RBIs, two coming off a two-run home run in the first inning for the Lumbermen, who beat the Nampa Chiefs 12-0 in a loser-out game in the state AA American Legion baseball tournament at Thorco Field.
Coeur d’Alene (21-15) will face the Lewis-Clark Twins (20-15) today at 1 p.m. Lewis-Clark fell to Idaho Falls 11-1 in its opener earlier on Tuesday. Idaho Falls (22-13) will face the Pocatello Runnin’ Rebels today at 4 for a berth to Thursday’s championship round. Pocatello beat Nampa 10-5 in Tuesday’s opening game.
Joe DuCoeur and Jesse Brown had two RBIs each for Coeur d’Alene against Nampa, the third time the team’s have played this season, with the Lums winning all three.
Every Lumbermen hitter reached base in the game.
