Wilco founder Jeff Tweedy to play Panida

| July 21, 2023 1:00 AM

Wilco’s founding member, Jeff Tweedy, announced a summer North American tour, with a stop at Sandpoint’s own Panida Theater starting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25.

As the leader of the Grammy Award winning American rock band, and before that the cofounder of the alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, Tweedy is one of contemporary music’s accomplished songwriters, musicians and performers.

He has released three solo albums and written original songs for 12 Wilco albums. On top of songwriting, he’s also the author of two New York Times Bestsellers, “Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back): A Memoir of Recording and Discording with Wilco, etc.” and “How To Write One Song.”

Tweedy’s summer tour precedes the release of his third book, “World Within a Song: Music That Changed My Life and Life That Changed My Music.”

The newest book will release Nov. 7 via Dutton. The book is a mix of memories, music and inspiration built around the 50-plus songs that changed Tweedy’s life.

Tweedy has also recently released a special episode for Audible’s Words + Music series, titled “Please Tell My Brothers.” In it, Tweedy introduces listeners to the people, occasions and frames of mind that have inspired the songbooks of Wilco, Uncle Tupelo and his solo work, including little or unknown moments and motivations.

Tickets are available online at Panida.org and start at $83. Doors open at 6:30 at 300 N. First Ave., Sandpoint.
