Moscrip joining former

Vik Orlandi‘s staff at

Lewis-Clark State

Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball coach Caelyn Orlandi announced the addition of Warrior alum and Lewiston native Cali Moscrip to the coaching staff. The former Warrior competed for Lewis-Clark State during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

“I am very excited to be adding Cali Moscrip to the coaching staff and I am looking forward to getting to coach with her by my side,” said Orlandi, the former Coeur d’Alene High star.

Moscrip is a Lewiston High graduate and helped the Bengals to a third-place finish at state in 2015. She went on to play two seasons at Community Colleges of Spokane, where she also competed in soccer and track and field, and helped the team to its first NWAC title in 35 years.

Boise State football tabbed to

win Mountain West Conference title

Boise State was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mountain West, the league announced at its annual media days, Wednesday.

The preseason poll marks the 16th-straight season that the Broncos have been picked to claim either a conference or division crown, including every year since joining the MW in 2011. The league will compete without divisions for the 2023 season.

Boise State has posted three undefeated campaigns in Mountain West play over the last four seasons. The Broncos return six all-conference honorees from 2022, including quarterback Taylen Green, the Mountain West Freshman of the Year. Punter James Ferguson-Reynolds and offensive lineman Mason Randolph joined Green on the 2022 College Football News Freshman All-America Team.

The Broncos received 28 of 37 first-place votes to lead the conference with 433 points. Air Force came in second with 364 points, including two first-place votes. Fresno State received five first-place votes and finished third with 351 points. San Diego State earned one first-place vote and was slated fourth with 338 points.

San Jose State gathered 293 points and Wyoming notched 281 points to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. Colorado State received 201 points to finish seventh, followed by Utah State at eighth with 194 points. UNLV secured the final first-place vote, finishing ninth with 177 points. Hawaii (102 points), Nevada (92 points) and New Mexico (60 points) rounded out the conference.

Boise State opens the season at Washington on Sept. 2 at 12:30 p.m. (KXLY).

Idaho wide receiver Hatten

named Preseason All-American

Hero Sports named Idaho wide receiver Hayden Hatten to the Preseason First-Team All-America Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Hatten is coming off a record-setting season that saw him set the Idaho single-season touchdown record (16) and single-game touchdown record (4). He now has 24 career touchdowns, just three short of Jerry Hendren's Vandal record of 27.

He finished with 1,209 yards last season, fourth all-time on the school record list.

Hatten was previously named the Bluebloods Preseason All-American First Team and earlier this week was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000 preseason watch list.

Hatten, along with Jermaine Jackson are the only 1,000-plus receiving duo in the FCS and one of just three in all of Division I.
