LEGION BASEBALL: Northern Lakes tops Camas Prairie, clinches second seed to districts
RATHDRUM — Andrew Horn had two hits and three RBIs for Northern Lakes, which secured the second seed to this weekend’s Class A Area A tournament with a 12-2 win over the Camas Prairie Zephyrs on Wednesday at Lakeland High’s Gorton Field.
“It was good to get our offense going again heading into districts,” Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. “Last week, there was a struggle in the title game in Missoula, but that might have been more to do with that team (Bitterroot Bucs) than us. But it was good to get the sticks going. Seven of our nine kids had RBIs and we did a good job of getting guys on and getting them in.”
Pitcher Tadhg Ellwood allowed two hits in four innings for Northern Lakes (22-9).
Grant Allaway had sacrifice flies in the first and third inning for the Mountaineers, who open at districts with seventh-seeded St. Maries on Friday at 4:30 at Memorial Field in Sandpoint.
