COEUR d’ALENE — A Post Falls man is being held without bail after he was charged with killing a 2-month-old infant.

Dyllan D. Towles, 24, was indicted by a grand jury Thursday and arrested later that night. He faces charges of first-degree murder and injury to a child, both felonies.

The charges stem from September 2021, when prosecutors say Towles “inflicted a fatal head and neck injury” on a 2-month-old girl.

Towles allegedly caused the child to sustain fractures and bruising to various parts of her body, according to court documents. He also allegedly bit the child.

Judge Mayli Walsh ordered Friday that Towles be held without bail until his arraignment in district court.

Towles pleaded guilty in 2019 to felony injury to a child, related to a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. He received a withheld judgement in the case and was placed on felony probation for three years.

In Idaho, felony injury to a child carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, while first-degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison or the death penalty.
