Man dies in plane crash in St. Maries

ST MARIES - The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a fatal plane crash in St. Maries on Thursday morning.

Jerry Siebert, 70, of the Seattle area, died after his Cessna 182N airplane crashed in a field shortly after taking off near Jack A. Buell Airport.

Starr Blum with the NTSB said during a media briefing that it was reported the engine was smoking and sputtering before the plane crashed.
