FEARS CONFIRMED: Voting restrictions and NIC

| January 29, 2023 1:00 AM

Today’s paper (Jan. 25) confirmed my fears on several levels: Our state elected officials’ main concern is to restrict voting as many ways as they can think up. If one method doesn’t work, let’s try another. I support those who, whatever their party affiliation, make it as easy as possible to make their voice heard.

Then, we have the NIC free for all: How is it that a temporarily appointed president can hire staff? In the first place, there is already a president. Must we be saddled with double dipping to pay two people plus attorney fees to litigate a lawsuit when the original one sues NIC? There’s enough insanity down there to fill an asylum, and the only losers are the students who won’t be able to get student loans or transfer their credits to other schools and staff who have to work under these chaotic conditions. Maybe the University of Idaho should take over running NIC. They seem to be better administrators, or at least are secure with their accreditation.
