Discover your Irish, Scots-Irish ancestors

The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center will host a seminar, "Discover Your Irish and Scots-Irish Ancestors," from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 9.

Experts Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt from the Ulster Historical Foundation will help people gain tips and tricks and learn how to get the most out of Irish resources. The seminar will explore research strategies. Program content covers the whole island of Ireland.

Topics covered will include:

• Introduction to Irish and Scots-Irish family history research

• Irish church registers and administrative records

• Estate records; tracing families in the 18th and 19th centuries

• The Ulster Plantation and sources for finding 17th century families in Ireland (not just Ulster)

The seminar is for new and seasoned genealogists.
