50th Anniversary March is Sunday in downtown Cd'A

| January 21, 2023 1:00 AM

The 50th Anniversary March, organized by the Kootenai County Women's March, will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.

The march is happening in conjunction with women’s marches across the country to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion.

The Supreme Court overturned that decision last year. Idaho now has a total ban on abortion. As of Aug. 25, 2022, those who perform abortions of clinically diagnosable pregnancies are guilty of a felony, unless the abortion saves the life of the pregnant woman or if the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest.

March participants will meet in the Community Room on the lower level of the library to share stories before marching downtown.

Attendees are asked to park on the lower level of the library near Coeur d'Alene City Hall as the upper level is limited to two-hour parking. T-shirts will be available for purchase.

Signs and flags are welcome.
