Aspire Shakes things up at Kroc Center
Elvis has entered the building at the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center for Aspire Community Theatre’s second this season, “All Shook Up.”
The energetic musical is inspired by and features the songs of the immortal Elvis Presley. Doors will open at 7:30, Feb. 10, for the grand opening.
Set in 1955, into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s "Twelfth Night," this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes. Featuring Elvis classics “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel," to name a few.
“All Shook Up” debuted on Broadway in 2005 and the cast struck out on a world tour in 2006. It’s now landing at the Kroc Center, performed by Aspire with a lively, local take on the original.
“All Shook Up” is fun for rock 'n' roll rebels of all ages, as well as for fans of the Shakespeare classics. It blends classic and vintage in a fresh G-rated romp through time and music.
Aspire Community Theatre debuted in 2016, performing “Dancing Through the Ages,” and has been coordinating local community productions, including classics like “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Addams Family.”
Showtimes for “All Shook Up” are at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18, with matinee times at 2 p.m. Feb. 11, 18 and 19.
