Betty L. Peterson, 90

| January 15, 2023 1:00 AM

On Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, our mother, Betty L. Peterson, passed away at the age of 90. Betty was born April 4, 1932, in Spokane Wash., to Harry and Hazel Bryant.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1950. She married Herb Peterson on May 2, 1952. They raised four children, Deborah ( Roy) Patterson of Post Falls, Idaho; Marc Peterson of Kellogg, Idaho; Karen (Roger) Atkins of Hauser, Idaho; and Kevin Peterson of Newman Lake, Wash.

In 1970, they moved to Coolin, Idaho, after buying the Priest Lake Lodge. When a fire destroyed the lodge in 1973, they then moved to the summer home that they had at Nordman, Idaho. After managing the Kaniksu Resort for many years they opened a tavern called Herbs Hideaway. After selling the tavern, they enjoyed their retirement years at Priest Lake.

In 2000, they moved to Post Falls to be closer to their children and grandchildren. After our dad passed away in 2008, our mom enjoyed camping with her family on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, even buying her own RV. She loved to bake and every weekend she would bring cookies to the river, where she earned the nickname "Cookie Betty."

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb, grandson Shawn and two great-grandchildren Freddie and Hailey. She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren Jason, Heather, Jared, Trever, Kristin and Tyler, and six great-grandchildren Abi, Jaylyn, Brooklyn, Charlie, Kaylee and Rylen.

At her request, there will be no services.
