Jean Alma Llewellyn, 94
Jean Alma Llewellyn was born Alma Jean Lantz in Lansing, Mich., on Jan. 10, 1928. She was the middle child of the five children of Warren Stacy Lantz and Alma Christina Swanson-Lantz.
When she was 18 years old, she packed up her belongings and moved to southern California with two of her best friends. She was a very brave and intelligent woman. She ended up working at the Frank Rousy Insurance Agency of Los Angeles, and she worked there for many years. Her friends married, but she always remained close to them throughout her life.
She married our father, Lawrence Llewellyn, on Dec. 23, 1964, and became our beloved mother. She loved, nurtured, guided and treated all four of us as if we were her biological children. We felt loved and valued, which is rare today.
Jean passed Dec. 29, 2022, at Hospice House of Coeur d’Alene surrounded by her children and many of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Llewellyn, her parents, all her siblings and her stepdaughter, Kimberly Llewellyn-Osberg.
She is survived by her remaining stepchildren: Sandra Gifford of Post Falls, Idaho; Valerie Bright of Spokane Valley, Wash.; and Jay Llewellyn of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Grandchildren Elliott Teller of Tijeras, N.M.; Karl Lewellyn of Post Falls, Idaho; Brent Reese of Walla Walla, Wash.; Justin Reese of Addison, Ill.; Aaron Reese of Hayden, Idaho; James Bright of Healy, Alaska; Rachael Murphy of West Washington; Brianna Murphy of West Washington; Angela Thomas of Wenatchee, Wash.; Jayson Llewellyn of Post Falls, Idaho; Bradlee Llewellyn of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Ambrea George of Athol, Idaho; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jean had many friends in the Coeur d’Alene area who will miss her, including her Grace Bible Church family.
A funeral service will be held in Jean’s honor Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at 4 p.m. at Grace Bible Church, 152 W. Prairie Ave, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
