COEUR TERRE: Response to Eric Gundlach

| February 24, 2023 1:00 AM

Although he focuses on the potential crisis for Indian Meadows, he speaks truth about the high levels of traffic and speeds presently effecting Fairway Hills. Which in my opinion is a precursor of the end result for Indian Meadows should through traffic be permitted.

People from Indian Meadows and all along the Seltice corridor to Post Falls on a daily basis cut through Fairway Hills. With the proliferation of housing and high density apartment complexes along the river between Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, it will only get worse.

People do not want to travel north on Atlas to Kathleen so they cut the corner on Evergreen and go through the Fairway Hills district, at high speeds, running the stop signs with little regard for the residents. This same action will happen with the Coeur Terre development.

To my knowledge Planning and Zoning, or the city have never installed counters to see the impact of these new developments on the existing older neighborhoods.

This might give them some insight to what the Coeur Terre development might offer.

A simple remedy for Fairway Hills would be to make Evergreen a cul-de-sac, and making Atlas Road four lanes. Forcing traffic up to Kathleen on Atlas.

Removing through traffic to the Fairway Hills and Indian Meadows would be the answer.
