PROPERTY TAXES: Have already gone up for schools

| February 22, 2023 1:00 AM

Our mortgage payment is going up yet again because of an escrow shortage due to the continuing increases in property taxes.

In 2015 the school portion of our taxes was $255 which included three itemized categories — bond, other, and supplemental. Our current statement displayed $540 for the same three.

That’s a 112% increase in just 8 years which is WAY over the rate of inflation. Why do schools need even more money? And if they are not getting these funds from our property taxes where is the money going?

Anyone who is insisting that these proposed levies will not increase taxes is living in a fantasy world.
