| February 22, 2023 1:00 AM

Frances Kay Weaver was born Jan. 24, 1973, to Mark and Brenda Newport in Gatesville, Texas. At a young age, her family moved to Oakley, Calif. She grew up there and graduated from Liberty Union High School in 1991. She continued her education at Los Medanos College, where she attained her associate's degree in child development. In 1995, she married Ryan Colcord and this union was blessed with two children, Skylee and Keenen. In 2001, she was united in marriage to Matthew Weaver, and their union was blessed with two children, Jordan and Josiah. The couple made their home and raised their family in Antioch, Calif. In 2018, they embarked on a new adventure and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Frances was incredibly talented and gifted in many ways. She found creative work in vintage retail, designing and sewing costumes, photography and managing a business.

Her relationship with God started as a young girl and continued to grow stronger throughout her life. In October of 2022, she experienced a decline in her health. She later entered Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, where she died peacefully Feb. 15, 2023, at the age of 50 years.

In addition to her creative work, she was a loving mother who enjoyed live music, thrifting and adventure. Frances was known as Free Bird by family and friends far and near, a fitting name considering her calm spirit, love of wildflowers, and nature.

She was like the peaceful birds of the air, flying beautiful and free. Her radiant smile, sparkling eyes and consistent laughter brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. Free Bird was a light and a love that will continue to shine bright in this world.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Matthew; four children, Skylee Colcord Hruby, Jordan Weaver, Keenen Colcord and Josiah Weaver; mother Brenda Newport; father Mark Newport; siblings Rondi Dockery, Stephanie Ochoa, Nathan Newport and Ashley Newport.

Funeral services for Frances will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Online registry and condolences may be found at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
