PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Blake, McCarthy pushes Post Falls in IEL win

SANDPOINT — Sophomore guard Tyras Blake scored a game-high 32 points for Post Falls in a 67-62 win over the Sandpoint Bulldogs in an Inland Empire League game at Les Rogers Court on Wednesday.

Junior guard Neil McCarthy added 15 for Post Falls, which scored 45 points in the second half.

Rusty Lee scored 27 points for Sandpoint (8-11, 3-4 IEL), which hosts Lake City on Friday.

Post Falls (5-15, 3-5) travels to Moscow on Tuesday.

RATHDRUM — Senior Scotty Hocking went 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, finishing with 20 points for the Hawks, who fell to the Bengals in an Inland Empire League game at Hawk Court.

William White, who has signed to play football at Idaho, had 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting for Lewiston.

“Lewiston just shot the lights out in the first quarter,” said Lakeland coach Tony Hanna, whose team trailed 30-22 after the first quarter. “White had 11 in the first quarter and really sparked them. We hit some shots too, but they did a good job of using their size. When they kicked it out, they hit their shots.”

Senior Collin Cameron scored 12 points for Lakeland (3-14, 1-5 IEL), which hosts Coeur d’Alene on Friday.

Carson Way scored 15 points for Lewiston (13-6, 5-4), which hosts Moscow on Friday.

“It was a great team win,” Genesis Prep coach Lon Morast said. “We took care of the ball and fought through some adversity. We were just fortunate to beat a very good team.”

Joey Specht scored 14 points for Genesis Prep (9-9), which hosts Lakeside on Friday at The Courts in Post Falls.
