NIC BASKETBALL: Cardinal men roll past Big Bend

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Xavier Bailey had 21 points on 6 of 7 shooting, leading top-ranked North Idaho College to a 102-74 win over the Big Bend Vikings in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday.

Freshman Cobi Campbell scored 18 points for NIC (20-0, 9-0 NWAC), which plays at Treasure Valley on Saturday.

Karon Sears scored 21 points for Big Bend (4-14, 2-7).

COEUR d’ALENE — Addie Kiefer, a freshman from Lakeland High, had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Vikings at Rolly Williams Court.

NIC (10-9, 4-4 NWAC) held Big Bend (11-10, 5-4) to 18 of 49 shooting and forced 24 turnovers.

“Sorrell (Aldendorf) came out and played really aggressively and it led to some transition baskets,” NIC coach Nathan Covill said. “We’re making some strides defensively and did a great job of rebounding.”

Laney Smith, a sophomore from Post Falls High, had 10 points for NIC, which lost 78-64 at Big Bend on Jan. 11.

NIC travels to Treasure Valley on Saturday.
