| December 28, 2023 1:20 AM

SPOKANE VALLEY — Coeur d’Alene put the pressure on the host Central Valley Bears from the opening tip, rolling to a 74-53 win over the Bears in the Central Valley Holiday Tournament on Wednesday night.

“We pressed them and were able to get a lot of turnovers and points in the first half,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams, whose team led 52-21 at halftime. “We were really active and kind of overwhelmed them a little bit. It gave us an opportunity to play a lot of guys.”

Junior Reed Sylte scored 12 points and sophomore Caden Symons scored 13 points, eight in the second quarter, for Coeur d’Alene (9-1), which faces Mead tonight at 5:30 at Central Valley High.

“It was good to see Reed step up tonight,” Adams said. “Caden really was big in the second quarter to help us stretch out the lead.”

Cameron Walls scored 11 points for Central Valley (1-6), which faces Lake City tonight at 7.
