James 'Jim' Wardlow, 73

| December 23, 2023 1:00 AM

Jim Wardlow was called home by his Lord and Savior to join his wife, Debbie, in Heaven on Dec. 16, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born May 11, 1950, in Quebec City, Canada, and adopted by loving parents James and Maria Wardlow, who raised him and his younger brother, Bill, and older sister Claire in Long Beach, Calif. After graduating from Lakewood High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army, from 1968 to 1970.

Jim and Debbie adopted their daughter, Allyson, in 1985 while living in Medford, Ore., and primarily resided in Washington before moving to Rathdrum, Idaho, after their retirement in 2017.

Jim was a man of Christian faith, known for his kind and generous heart, and was a friend to everyone he met. He was very active in his church and led a Thursday Bible study group for years. He was also heavily involved in the Family Promise ministry providing meals and shelter for families in need, as well as the leader of the "Caring Crew" which serves isolated elderly and special needs community members to ensure they do not feel left alone or forgotten.

He enjoyed working outside in his yard, socializing with his tight-knit block of neighbors, RV camping and loved the company of his cherished cocker spaniel, Jaxon.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Allyson of Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Wardlow of Lakewood, Calif.; nieces, Juliana and Melissa of Cypress, Calif; sister, Claire Reay of Long Beach, Calif; nephew Chris Reay of Nennah, Wis.; sister-in-law, Sharon Spann; and niece, Hallie Alexander of Cocolalla, Idaho; and a loving church family at Peace Lutheran Church in Post Falls. His celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Post Falls, Idaho (8134 N. Meyer Road). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Family Promise of North Idaho (www.familypromiseni.org) or Peace Lutheran Church (www.peace-lutheran.church).
