PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene girls third at Tark Classic

LAS VEGAS — Bouncing back from a loss in the semifinals, the Coeur d’Alene Vikings defeated West High of Salt Lake City 54-22 on Thursday to capture third place in the Diamond Bracket at the Tarkanian Classic at Durango High.

Coeur d’Alene (10-3) finished 3-1 at the tourney.

Rigby, which defeated the Vikings in the semifinals, lost to Ridgeline of Millville, Utah 55-48 in the championship game.

No other information was available.

Coeur d’Alene returns to action Jan. 6 at home vs. University.

POST FALLS — Senior Katie Berg had 12 points and eight steals for the Trojans in a nonleague win over the Wolfpack at The Arena.

“It was really good to see Katie’s effort tonight,” Post Falls coach Brian Hall said. “She told me before the game she was a defensive specialist, but I said I needed players tonight. And she worked hard for us.”

Senior Leti Asper had eight points, six rebounds and five steals, senior Brooklynn Brennan 16 points and senior Kayden Allen 11 points for Post Falls (5-8), which travels to Kamiakin of Kennewick today at 4 p.m.

Shalene Ervin scored nine points for North Central (0-7).
