'History of Rock and Roll' concert set for Jan. 12

| December 22, 2023 1:00 AM

A magical musical experience will touch hearts and get feet moving Jan. 12 when Rusty Jackson brings "The History of Rock and Roll" to Coeur d'Alene.

Just days after what would have been Elvis Presley's 89th birthday, this show will entertain and inform as audience members see and hear the music and the larger-than-life characters who brought such revolutionary sounds to the 20th century.

The Rusty Jackson Band with Mel Dalton and Tom Richards will perform the hits of the '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s as they walk through the memories and the music of the times.

Prior to the 1950s, pop music was created by composers and was professionally arranged. Popular singers were backed up by musicians who read music. That all changed with the advent of the electric guitar and groups of three or four musicians who could produce a big sound with just a few people. In the '50s and '60s everything changed as rock music became pop music. And then in the '70s, '80s and beyond, it all changed again.

Rusty and the crew will tell the story while performing some of the last century's most memorable music.

The show will be 6-8:30 p.m. at Lake City Center, 1916 N. Lakewood Drive.

Admission is $15-$25. Visit eventbrite.com for tickets.
