Meet Christmas for All's Unsung Heroes
Christmas for All's referring partners are Kootenai County's unsung heroes.
They walk alongside clients in need and refer them to Charity Reimagined for specific assistance from Christmas for All, this newspaper's holiday charity campaign that through the great generosity of our readers helps recipients throughout the year.
It is an honor to work with these outstanding men and women and their organizations, and we are excited to introduce them to you.
Jules Cosby is the community outreach and education specialist for the Salvation Army Kroc Center. She said Christmas for All has had a significant impact on her work.
“As I work with individuals and families and seek to support them as they hopefully are working to better their circumstances, CFA feels like a beacon of hope,” Cosby said.
When individuals and families encounter stumbling blocks, and there seem to be no other resources or answers, CFA has often been a light of hope, Cosby said.
“I get to carry on in their journey and walk with them through the application form to see if CFA might be able to assist in a space where it has felt no one else can,” she said. “As the provider of support services, it also means that I get to feel the support of the CFA committee asking specific, thoughtful and strategic questions to truly evaluate and work towards a best case scenario solution.”
Cosby recently worked with a “lovely young lady in her 80s” who received support through CFA.
“She was delightful,” Cosby said. “She chatted about how she needed to get home to rake up all of the leaves and make sure that she completed her chore list … I walked this delightful woman back to her car with the assurance that her rent could be paid this month, even with the extra payments she had had to make for a few medical expenses; she was relieved and seemed to almost relish the task list that awaited her when she got home.”
Cosby also noted “the incredible work of Charity Reimagined” and the access Charity Reimagined provides to Charity Tracker, cloud-based software that connects nonprofits.
“Not only bringing Tracker to so many of the support agencies in this town, but also providing the dedicated training that now allows us all to make referrals within Tracker,” Cosby said. “This is nothing short of life changing for me and the individuals I serve. To see every human, to help them find their God given strengths and capabilities, to elevate them to the next best step is going to take all of the helping agencies working together and Charity Tracker is the best tool I have seen to get us there.”
