JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY: Prefer trained professionals
I greatly appreciated Deborah Rose’s piece on journalist integrity in last Friday’s opinion section of The Press. Since the advent of the internet and the World Wide Web we now have immediate access to all kinds of information. What a blessing and a curse. So much information is out there. It is difficult figuring out if the stuff we are reading is factual or designed to just get our attention and keep it regardless of whether or not it is all true.
Real professionals at our local paper and TV news stations do a great job in keeping us informed. They vet, hire and then review the pieces given to us. Thank you Deborah Rose for reminding us how important it is to know the journalist integrity of anyone’s preferred source of information and news. Frankly, I prefer a trained professional over a YouTuber or social media diva any day.
