William (Bill) Porath, 62

| December 19, 2023 1:00 AM

Aug. 15, 1961 — Nov. 20, 2023

Bill was born in Coeur d’Alene to Barry N. and JoAnn Porath. He grew up in Cougar Gulch and loved every minute of the time spent hiking, dirt bike riding (with his brother, Mark) and living on a small farm with lots of animals and outdoor space. He loved riding motorcycles, soaring in his hang glider, flying over Cd'A in his Ultralight, which he kept tied down at the Cd'A Airport, and basically anything adventurous or daring.

His proudest moments were raising his son, Barry, and step-daughters Annie and Stacey and watching them marry, become remarkable adults and bring to this world seven amazing grandchildren. Bill was the proudest grandpa and enjoyed creating a dirt bike track for his son and grandsons and buying everything pink and pretty for his granddaughters.

Bill worked for years at the NIC as a Computer Technician until a car accident put him in a wheelchair but that did not stop him from enjoying his life, family, drone flying and riding in his Honda Pilot (provided to him through a “Fun Fund” created by his co-workers at the NIC). He lived every moment to the fullest and encouraged everyone he encountered to do the same.

Survivors include his son, Barry C. Porath, step-daughters Annie (Robinson-Brown) and Stacey (Corigliano), his father, Barry N. Porath, his brother, Mark Porath (wife Judy), sister Lori Porath and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, JoAnn Porath, who passed away May 19, 2004.
