John Stone, 76

| December 17, 2023 1:00 AM

John passed away on Dec. 5, 2023, in Spokane Valley, Wash., after a recent illness. John was born Nov. 24, 1947, in Tulsa, Okla., to John O. Stone Jr and Joanne (Sommer) Stone. He grew up and attended school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

After a brief, youthful marriage, he met and married his second wife, Carol. Eventually, his life led him to his loving friend and companion, Julie. He worked many jobs, over the years, mainly in the construction and logging industry. His outgoing personality was well-suited to his counter and outside sales positions.

John loved to travel and, over the years, visited several exciting locales around North America. He also loved the local music scene and made many, enduring friendships with the talented musicians and crews. This passion enabled him to meet and befriend several touring Country music stars. This time in his life left him with cherished memories. His passing has created an empty space in our hearts that will never be filled. He will be missed, dearly, and we will have to take solace in our loving memories of our happy times together.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Joanne Stone, and his younger sister, Amy Stone.

He is survived by Julie Seybold of Spokane Valley, Wash., his son, Chad A. Stone, grandson Michael Stone and three great-grandsons, all of the Snohomish, Wash., area and his sister, Nancy Skellenger (Dan) of Otis Orchards, Wash., as well as several nieces and nephews.

John was very lucky to have some special, lifelong friends that we would like to acknowledge. They were always there for him. Their friendships meant the world to him. Thank you for all the good times.

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to his friends at Opportunity Manor, especially, Patti, for all her support during his time there. It is greatly appreciated.

In addition, we would like to thank the First Responders, the EMTs of AMR110 and the SVFD, for their quick response to his emergency.  Lastly, the family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and caregivers at Multicare Valley Hospital for their compassionate care of John during this difficult time.

Pacific Northwest Cremation is in charge of the funeral arrangements. A get-together to celebrate and share memories will be scheduled at a later date.

For you, John,

"What a long strange trip it's been."
