Giving trees
HAYDEN LAKE — Gabriel Beaman believes it's important for every home to have a Christmas tree.
So he does what he can to make it happen.
For the fourth year, the 13-year-old ventured into the Hayden Creek area in search of trees to brighten Christmas for someone. With the help of a friend, he cut down a few trees, loaded them up and delivered them.
"It's important that everybody get a tree every year," Gabriel said.
The Hayden boy sees the Christmas tree as a symbol of family. He hopes it could see someone share a traditional Christmas morning they might not otherwise have.
"It's showing everybody getting together and doing something," he said.
The Wishing Star Foundation, Rathdrum Senior Center and Community Action Partnership food bank have been recipients of his goodwill toward men on Earth.
Gabriel went out Sunday, walked through the snow to find just the right trees — not too big, not too small and not scraggly.
He said it feels good when they deliver the trees. His simple wish is that it brings others joy.
"Merry Christmas," he said.
