COEUR d'ALENE — Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty recently donated $25,000 to the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument project at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.

The gift "serves as an expression of our appreciation for the sacrifices Gold Star families and veterans have made," a press release said.

"It remains our priority as a company to extend continuous support in preserving the legacy of our veterans," said Mark Johnson, president and CEO.

The monument and about 600 burial plots for veterans will go in the southeast corner of Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, just off Government Way near Wilbur Avenue.

The project is expected to cost about $100,000.

One side of the four-section monument will read, "Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. A tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom."

The other side includes pictures and the words “Homeland,” “Family,” “Patriot” and “Sacrifice.”

T.J. Harris, general manager of Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, previously told The Press that the monument will be a place for people to stop and pay tribute to all who have served or are still serving in the military. He said they are hoping to start the monument process within the next year.

Earlier this year, Pappy Boyington Detachment 966 Marine Corps League donated $10,350 for the monument.

Deb Saunders, real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty, has a history of supporting both Gold Star families and Blue Star mothers.

"This lasting memorial will forever remind all of us of the sacrifice that was made for us," she said.

Gary Schneidmiller, founder, chairman and broker, said his father was a decorated Marine, so he understands such sacrifices firsthand.

Johnson said Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty is committed to honoring those who have served the country.

"This donation exemplifies Coldwell Banker's values, showcasing our company's profound dedication and appreciation for veterans and this honorable cause," said Rob Brickett, general manager.
