A Merry and Mindful Marketplace will fill the Atrium Professional Building in Hayden from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 9 with art, artists, artisans and music.

“The Merry and Mindful Marketplace is a first-of-its-kind event that aims to celebrate the vibrant arts and culture scene in Coeur d'Alene during the holiday season,” event organizer Nancy Abell said in an email.

Abell has a business in the Atrium, 13403 N. Government Way, Hayden, where she sells jewelry, crystals and showcases art from Brooke Baggett, winner of the 2022 Coeur d'Alene Artist of the Year award.

“We’re so lucky to have the opportunity to feature such a hidden gem,” Abell said.

Baggett’s art, along with the crystals and gems in Abell’s shop, will be featured in the market alongside other vendors in the Atrium.

Attendees can buy cake pops, candy, cookies, sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, apple cider, hot cocoa, leather purses, bags and other homemade gifts and crafts, all in indoor comfort.

Baggett will be available to discuss her work and style alongside demonstrations by local artist Sandra Bergeron.

Bergeron spent seven years creating the panel murals in Candlelight Church, from Genesis to Revelations.

Bergeron will conduct a live art demonstration of a holiday inspired piece, and have some of her own art available for sale.

To add to the ambient background, the Coeur d'Alene Youth Choir will fill the air with enchanting holiday melodies, followed by the Strings Trio from the Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene.

“We really wanted to expound on the holistic feel of the building,” Abell said. “It has this beautiful artistic feel to it. and we really wanted to mirror that.”

The Atrium is home to a handful of therapists, a spa, salon, a photography studio and wellness related shops, so the holiday market was an organic progression to celebrate the space.

“It’s such a beautiful building,” Abell said. She hears all the time how people don’t really know she’s there, so we wanted to invite people to her space to savor the artistic flavor and mood in a Christmas celebration.

A goal of the market is to bring foot traffic to the shops, but also to celebrate the warmth of the season and the community.

“We’ll have a variety of vendors going,” Abell said. “I’m really excited about the lineup of who’s going to be here.”

There will 24 vendors in total, and the vendors in the Atrium will be open.

Small arts and crafts will be available at the Merry and Mindful Marketplace Dec. 9.
